Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The U.S. Embassy and the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences (EAS) co-hosted a panel discussion on “Challenges and Solutions in Cultural Heritage Conservation” at Addis Ababa University.
The event brought together distinguished scholars from both nations: U.S. Fulbright scholars Dr. Steven Andrew Brandt (University of Florida) and Dr. Helina Woldekiros (Washington University in St. Louis), alongside Ethiopian architect Fasil Giorghis and Dr. Yonas Beyen of the Ethiopian Heritage Authority.

The lively discussion explored the complexities of cultural heritage preservation, with panelists sharing their expertise on the challenges faced and potential solutions. This event is part of a series of public lectures organized by the U.S. Embassy and EAS to celebrate 120 years of U.S.-Ethiopia relations. The series will continue throughout the coming months, featuring collaborations between American and Ethiopian scholars on various topics.
