Moscow, Russia – Iraq’s ambassador to Russia, Dr. Kahtan Taha Khalaf, met with Sergey Melikov, the head of Russia’s Dagestan republic, on April 6th. The meeting, part of a visit for diplomatic missions accredited to Russia, focused heavily on the Palestinian issue.
Ambassador Khalaf commended Russia’s historical support for Iraq and other Arab nations, particularly regarding Palestinian self-determination and land rights. He urged continued international backing for the Palestinians, highlighting the ongoing human rights violations and the plight of Gaza facing potential famine.
In response, Mr. Melikov expressed Dagestan’s solidarity with the Palestinian cause and their right to self-determination.
