The new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Lesotho, His Excellency Mr. Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

Pratoomkaew succeeds H.E. Mr. Pornchai Danvivathana who completed his tour of duty in 2022. He covers Lesotho from Pretoria, South Africa.

The Kingdom of Thailand is the second largest economy in Southeast Asia, after Indonesia. It is also ranked 25th in the world and fifth in terms of lowest unemployment rate. Thailand has offered Lesotho training opportunities in small and medium enterprises over the years. These training opportunities have enabled Basotho to pursue studies in other fields, including diplomacy and economic planning and management.

Lesotho and Thailand enjoy warm and cordial bonds of friendship and cooperation. His Majesty King Letsie III went to Thailand during the mourning period following the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In December 2016, the new Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn acceded to the throne and His Majesty King Letsie III led the Lesotho delegation to the event.

In his meeting with the Thai ambassador, King Letsie III expressed his hope that the two countries would continue to strengthen their ties in the areas of trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

Pratoomkaew assured the king that Thailand would work closely with Lesotho to further strengthen their bilateral relations.
