Ms. Lindiwe Cynthia Kunene, the new High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Eswatini to the Kingdom of Lesotho, presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
Kunene succeeds H.E. Mrs. Dumisile Thandie Sukati and is accredited to Lesotho on a non-residential basis from Pretoria, Republic of South Africa.
Lesotho and Eswatini share time-honored historical linkages. They have similar geographic characteristics, being the two smallest landlocked countries in Southern Africa. Both countries, along with the Kingdom of Morocco, are the only three countries on the African Continent that remain Monarchies.
The Kingdoms of Lesotho and Eswatini continue to collaborate in the field of education, which dates back to the establishment of PIUS XII College in 1945, which is now the National University of Lesotho, Roma. They also enjoy amicable tripartite relations with the Republic of Botswana under the umbrella of the Institute of Development Management (IDM). The friendship and cooperation have, over the years, been further cemented through reciprocal high-level visits by Their Majesties.
