South African Embassy in Brazil strengthens bilateral ties with delegations

Brasilia, May 18th, 2023 – The Embassy of South Africa in Brazil recently welcomed delegations from various countries, highlighting the commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation and enhancing diplomatic relations.

Minister Plenipotentiary, Mr. Musa Aphane, accompanied by Counsellor Political, Mr. Bingo Thamaga, and First Secretary Political, Ms. Denisha Reddy, received the following delegations at the Embassy:

A delegation led by Mr. Romeo Adams, Secretary to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, visited Brasilia to participate in the 2nd Edition of the LegisTech: Americas Conference. The delegation included parliamentary representatives from Namibia and Zambia. The conference provided a global platform for sharing experiences and insights on institutional modernization and digital legislative transformation.

Another delegation arrived from the Brazilian Ministry of Education, led by Mr. Thomaz Alexandre Mayer Napoleão, Special Advisor to the Minister on International Affairs. The delegation sought a briefing on South Africa’s BRICS priorities and activities in the education sector. The meeting also served as an opportunity for the Embassy to discuss its activities in the higher education sector, including addressing challenges related to the Brazilian Government’s PEC-G program, which offers scholarships to students from Africa and the Caribbean. Additionally, the Embassy informed the Ministry about the forthcoming bilateral Joint Commission (JC) meeting, scheduled to take place in Brazil in October 2023.

These interactions signify the Embassy of South Africa’s dedication to promoting international cooperation and strengthening the ties between South Africa and Brazil. Through such engagements, both countries strive to deepen mutual understanding and explore opportunities for collaboration in various fields.
