Lilongwe – Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Nancy Tembo, took part in the International Day of Yoga celebration with members of the Indian community on Saturday, 27 June 2025.
The event, held in Malawi, was part of a global observance first recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The 21st of June was officially declared the International Day of Yoga following a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then, the practice has gained global traction, encouraging healthy, mindful, and balanced living.

Tembo used the occasion to reflect on the longstanding ties between Malawi and India, noting that the two countries continue to share warm and beneficial relations. She said such cultural events serve as bridges, strengthening people-to-people connections and mutual appreciation between the nations.
