Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, held a strategic meeting in Addis Ababa on Monday with a high-powered business delegation led by Wang Xiaohan, Vice President of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce (SFIC).
The delegation, composed of senior executives from over ten major Shanghai-based companies, discussed potential areas of investment across Ethiopia’s rapidly liberalizing economy.
During the talks, Ambassador Hadera invited Chinese companies to take advantage of Ethiopia’s ongoing macroeconomic reforms, which have opened up previously state-controlled sectors to private investment. He noted that the reforms offer fresh opportunities for foreign capital and expertise, especially in high-growth industries.
Wang Xiaohan described Ethiopia as a promising market for Chinese investors. He said SFIC members are keen on exploring ventures in artificial intelligence, information technology, and infrastructure, which align with both Ethiopia’s development priorities and China’s global investment strategy.
