The diplomatic ties between North Korea and Lesotho have a long history, with notable collaboration including the completion of the Qhobosheaneng Government Complex in Maseru and part of the Setsoto Stadium. However, relations were put on hold in 1986 following a military coup in Lesotho. Diplomatic connections were restored in 2003, paving the way for renewed cooperation between the two nations.

Mr. Jong will cover Lesotho’s diplomatic affairs from Pretoria, South Africa, further strengthening North Korea’s presence in the Southern African region.
