The Gangbé Brass Band, hailing from Benin, continues to captivate global audiences with its electrifying mix of voodoo jazz, afrobeat, and funk. After over 30 years of spreading the sound of Beninese music worldwide, the band is set to return to the renowned Africa Festival in Würzburg, Germany, where they will showcase their dynamic performances once again.
Formed in Cotonou in 1994, Gangbé Brass Band is far more than just a brass ensemble. With a lineup of eight talented musicians, they have become the custodians of rhythm and the voices of a vibrant, evolving Africa. The band’s name, “Gangbé,” translates to “the sound of metal,” reflecting their signature use of brass instruments that electrify stages around the globe.
Blending traditional voodoo percussion, Afrobeat rooted in the legacy of Fela Kuti, jazz, funk, and festive polyphony, Gangbé creates an irresistible and joyous musical experience.
