India has donated 2,000 metric tons of food aid to Lesotho, consisting of 1,000 metric tons of rice and 1,000 metric tons of sorghum. The donation was formalized through the signing of Handing Over Certificates by Lesotho’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Lejone Mpotjoana, and India’s High Commissioner to Lesotho, H.E. Shri Prabhat Kumar.
This assistance is aimed at addressing food insecurity in Lesotho, providing crucial support to families in need. Minister Mpotjoana expressed gratitude on behalf of the Lesotho government, recognizing the importance of the donation in efforts to alleviate food shortages.
In addition to food aid, India has supported Lesotho through scholarships and training programs, including the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships.
