Musicians, DJs, and poets eager to perform at one of Johannesburg’s most vibrant music festivals can now apply for the 14th edition of Fête de la Musique Joburg, set to take place on 21 June 2025 at Victoria Yards.
Organized by the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS), this year’s event holds special significance, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of UNESCO’s International Music Day and IFAS’s 30-year presence in South Africa.
Artists of all genres are invited to submit applications for the chance to perform at the free-entry festival, which provides a platform for both emerging and established talents to showcase their work and connect with a diverse audience.
Applications are open from 13 March to 16 April 2025, or until 300 submissions are received. Interested artists must complete an online form and submit their materials via WeTransfer to [email protected]. A panel of industry professionals will review entries based on originality, musical quality, and stage presence.
Selected performers must be available for a live set in Johannesburg on 21 June and attend mandatory workshops on 19 and 20 June. Performance fees are set at R5,500 for bands, R3,000 for DJs, and R1,000 for poets.
First launched in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique has grown into a global celebration held in over 120 countries. Since its arrival in Johannesburg, it has hosted artists such as Msaki, BCUC, Samthing Soweto, Vaudou Game, and Nakhane.
The festival is organized by IFAS in collaboration with Bassline and supported by TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa.
