Beirut, March 12, 2025 – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) officials have wrapped up a preparatory meeting led by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), setting the stage for their participation in the 2nd World Summit on Social Development (WSSD2), scheduled for November 4-6 in Doha.
The virtual meeting, organized in collaboration with the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs of the GCC, brought together representatives from labor, social development, and foreign affairs ministries across the six member states, alongside officials from the GCC Secretariat.
Discussions held on March 10 and 11 focused on key priorities for WSSD2, with officials reviewing a “Food for Thought” paper drafted by Belgium and Morocco, co-facilitators of the Summit’s Declaration. Participants outlined strategic areas the GCC aims to advance during the global gathering.
