His Majesty King Mswati III has called on residents living near Driekoppies Dam to explore the many opportunities the dam offers. The King made these remarks after touring the dam on March 1st, 2025.
King Mswati identified several sectors that could drive economic growth and create jobs for the local community, including fish farming, crocodile leather production, agriculture, agro-processing, and tourism.
The Driekoppies Dam is one of two projects under the Komati Basin Water Authority (KOBWA), a transboundary initiative established in 1993 to manage the water resources of the Komati River Basin. The other project is the Maguga Dam.
