The Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, was a guest speaker at a high-level side event held during the 61st Munich Security Conference, which took place from February 14 to 16, 2025. The event, organized by the German International Cooperation Agency (GiZ), focused on “utilizing the Water-Energy-Food Nexus as an effective catalyst for conflict prevention and resolution.”
Tchintchibidja’s intervention aimed to share ECOWAS’s perspective on how its Early Warning System and data on issues such as environment, health, food security, climate change, and transhumance could contribute to improving the security of populations in regions dealing with resource scarcity. The session highlighted the importance of addressing the challenges communities face when trying to access or share natural resources in volatile environments.
