Eswatini Air has announced plans to launch a direct flight route between King Mswati III International Airport (SHO) in Eswatini and Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka, Zambia. According to a report from Travel News Africa, the airline has yet to confirm the exact launch date, but this expansion signals growing regional connectivity.
The new route is expected to strengthen business and tourism ties between the two nations while establishing King Mswati III International Airport as a key transit point in southern Africa.
Eswatini Air, established in 2022 under the government-owned Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation (RENAC), began operations in March 2023. The airline already operates flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban in South Africa, as well as Harare, Zimbabwe. It has quickly earned a reputation for reliability, boasting a 95% on-time performance rate and 98% schedule integrity in its first year.
This new connection will provide travelers with improved access to Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, including wildlife reserves and mountainous terrain, alongside Zambia’s famous attractions such as Victoria Falls and world-class safari experiences.
For African travel agents, this direct route offers a fresh opportunity to promote Eswatini and Zambia as a joint travel experience, benefiting tourism and economic relations in the region.
