Yango, a digital platform specializing in mobility, logistics, and delivery, has urged the Pan-African Parliament to create regulatory environments that support the expansion of the e-hailing industry. The company made this appeal to the parliament’s Committee on Transport, Communication, Science, and Technology, calling for policies that balance innovation with infrastructure development.
Vice President of Yango Africa, Adv. Zanyiwe, addressed the committee during a session on transportation and digital technology, pointing to e-hailing’s role in reshaping urban mobility. Yango operates across Sub-Saharan Africa, linking millions to economic opportunities and transforming transport systems.
The African e-hailing industry is expanding, with estimates showing growth from $4.8 billion in 2025 to $10.2 billion by 2030. This represents a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 16.2%, according to Africa Mobility Trends.
In 2023, major e-hailing platforms contributed over $3.5 billion to Africa’s economy, making up 4% of the transport and logistics sector’s GDP. Around 18% of urban residents now rely on e-hailing services, reflecting a shift in transportation habits.
