Denmark’s Ambassador to Ghana, Tom Nørring, met with Ghana’s Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, to congratulate him on his appointment and discuss Denmark’s continued support for Ghana’s water sector.
Denmark has supported Ghana’s water sector for decades through its development cooperation agency, DANIDA. Since 2019, the partnership shifted to the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) framework, focusing on water management, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
Ambassador Nørring outlined Denmark’s Africa Strategy, which allocates over DKK 1 billion for water projects across the continent. The funding will improve water access in Northern Ghana and enhance water efficiency in Tema. The investment is linked to the ongoing feasibility study of the Aveyime Water project to address water shortages in Tema and Greater Accra.
Denmark also supports capacity building through the DANIDA Fellowship Centre, offering training programs for technical experts and policymakers.
