The 2024 Southern African Development Community (SADC) Sustainable Energy Week (SEW) officially opened on February 24 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre in Gaborone, Botswana. Running until February 28, the conference is a collaboration between Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy and the Southern African Development Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE).

The theme for this year’s conference, “Accelerating Sustainable Energy Solutions for an Energy Secure SADC Region,” provides a platform for industry experts and government officials to discuss strategies, share knowledge, and build partnerships aimed at addressing the region’s energy challenges.
Among the key speakers at the event are Mr. Elias M. Magosi, SADC Executive Secretary, and Hon. Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Botswana’s Minister of Minerals & Energy, alongside Mr. Kudakwashe Ndhlukula, Executive Director of SACREEE. Their participation underscores the importance of collaboration in tackling energy issues affecting Southern Africa.
