Three Ghanaians were elected to prominent positions in the African Union Commission during the 46th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 12-13, 2025.
Ambassador Amma Adomaa Twum-Amoah, Ghana’s former Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, was elected Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development for the 2025-2028 term.
Hon. Edem Kwami Senanu, a development consultant and member of the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption, was re-elected for the 2025-2029 term.
Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto, Ghana’s former Ambassador to Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, was elected to the African Union Commission on International Law for the 2025-2029 term.
