Nairobi, 19 February 2025 – President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya has expressed strong support for the 2024 adoption of the United Nations Pact of the Future, stressing that it will play a pivotal role in addressing global governance challenges and the flaws in the international financial system.
Ruto also called for urgent reform of the UN Security Council, urging a more democratic and representative structure to ensure fair decision-making. Kenya, as part of the Committee of 10, is committed to advocating for greater African representation on the Security Council.
The president’s remarks came following a meeting with UN General Assembly President Philémon Yang at State House in Nairobi. Ruto congratulated Yang for his leadership, which was instrumental in securing the adoption of the Pact of the Future.
