Kenya has launched the KSh10 billion Off-Grid Solar Access Project to improve energy access in rural and remote regions, particularly in Northern Kenya. The project aims to provide affordable and reliable energy to boost enterprise growth and expand economic opportunities.
The initiative is part of Kenya’s commitment to achieving universal electricity access by 2030 and a full transition to clean energy. The project will benefit 14 counties, including Garissa, Isiolo, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Mandera, Marsabit, Narok, Samburu, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Turkana, Wajir, and West Pokot.
The government also expressed gratitude to the World Bank and the African Development Bank for their support in bringing the project to fruition.
