Egypt’s Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Ali Sharif, met with officials and business leaders in Cape Town earlier this month to discuss trade and investment between Egypt and the Western Cape.
Sharif held meetings with WESGRO, the Western Cape’s trade and investment promotion agency, and John Lawson, President of the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Discussions focused on strengthening business ties and exploring potential areas of cooperation.
He also met with Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, Infrastructure Minister Tertuis Simmers, and Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis during the opening of the new parliamentary session. Talks centered on infrastructure collaboration, including the Cairo-Cape Town Highway, a key project under the African Union’s Presidential Infrastructure Champion Initiative (PICI).
