Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini of the Kingdom of Eswatini welcomed a delegation from the Tacoma Central Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C., at the Private and Cabinet Office on Wednesday. The delegation, led by Reverend Samuel Lee, is in the country for a two-day National Crusade that began in the evening.
Among the visiting team are specialized doctors who have long contributed to Eswatini’s healthcare system through missionary efforts. Their commitment to improving medical access includes co-funding a new clinic in Ezulwini, which is set to open before the end of the year. The facility aims to bolster healthcare services in the kingdom and address medical needs.
Discussions between the Prime Minister and the delegation also centered on the burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), with a particular focus on cancer. Dlamini urged one of the visiting gynecologists to conduct research on the causes of cancer, particularly cervical cancer, to help inform national strategies against the disease.
Beyond healthcare and research, the delegation extended words of encouragement and offered prayers for the nation. Dlamini described their support as heartwarming and impactful, acknowledging their ongoing contributions to Eswatini’s people.
