King Mswati III of Eswatini visited the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai today, the world’s largest single-site solar power project. The solar park, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, is set to generate 5,000 megawatts by 2030 with a total investment of AED 50 billion (approximately E250 billion).
Dr. Aaesha Alnuaimi, Director of the Sustainability and Innovation Centre at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), escorted the King around the site and provided details on the park’s objectives and progress. Currently in its fifth phase, the park is producing 950 megawatts and is expected to deliver 1,800 megawatts by next year.
