The ECOWAS Club at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, Senegal, held its first “48 Hours” event from February 7 to 8, 2025, bringing together young people, local stakeholders, and institutional representatives to discuss key issues facing West Africa. The event aimed to raise awareness and engage participants on topics such as regional integration, cooperation, and peace.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Mrs. Zelma Fassinou, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Senegal, and focused on how youth can contribute to building a more united and peaceful West Africa. It also sought to promote the mission of ECOWAS and raise awareness about its efforts in conflict prevention and management in the region.
Panels during the event explored the role of diplomacy in promoting African integration, as well as the mobility and integration of young people within the ECOWAS region. Experts, including Ambassador Saliou Cissé, General Jean Luc Diène, Professor Alioune Sall, and Professor Moussa Diop, led the discussions.
The event also featured cultural exhibitions and performances, providing a chance for participants to experience the diverse cultures of ECOWAS countries.
