The Democratic Republic of Congo is calling for a United Nations investigation into “mass violations” of human rights in the city of Goma. Congo’s ambassador to the UN, Paul Empole Losoko Efambe, announced that the country will present a motion to the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday during an emergency session.
Efambe stated that the situation in Goma has reached a critical point, urging the UN to investigate the widespread violations. The motion seeks the establishment of a fact-finding mission to address the growing human rights crisis in the region.
