Lesotho’s King Letsie III and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema have held discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between their nations. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with a focus on strengthening partnerships in trade, water management, electricity, mining, agriculture, and cultural heritage.
The leaders acknowledged the importance of deeper regional collaboration and agreed to work toward reviving historical and cultural connections between their countries.
King Letsie III also informed President Hichilema of his intention to accept an invitation from King Lubosi Imwiko II and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga II to attend the 2025 Kuomboka Ceremony in Zambia. The centuries-old Lozi tradition marks the annual migration of the Litunga, or Lozi King, and his people from the Barotse Floodplain to higher ground. The event is celebrated as a symbol of resilience and unity among the Lozi people.
