On January 28, Eswatini’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, met with the UK’s Minister of State for Trade Policy, Douglas Alexander, during the 1st Joint Council Meeting of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and Mozambique.
The meeting focused on boosting bilateral trade between Eswatini and the United Kingdom, particularly through the SACUM-UK Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). Key areas of discussion included potential opportunities in agriculture, IT, and sustainable energy. Minister Khumalo also invited UK companies to participate in the Eswatini Investment Conference set for April 2025.
Khumalo stressed Eswatini’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment, noting the importance of Foreign Direct Investment in the country’s economic growth.
