President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) declared that the country will not accept humiliation or surrender to rebel forces, specifically the M23 group. Speaking to the nation, Tshisekedi confirmed that the DRC is already taking strong military action to regain control over territories held by the rebels.
Tshisekedi urged young Congolese citizens to join the national army, the FARDC, in greater numbers to strengthen the country’s defense. His remarks come amid growing tensions in the eastern part of the country, where M23 fighters have made significant advances.
He emphasized the DRC’s commitment to standing firm, stating, “The DRC will not bend, the DRC will not retreat. I swear it.”
