Pretoria, South Africa – The Egyptian Embassy in Pretoria is taking steps to boost food exports to South Africa. Ambassador Ahmed Ali Sharif recently welcomed a delegation from the Food Industries Export Council as part of a preparatory visit to explore opportunities for Egyptian food products in the South African market. This visit, lasting one week, lays the groundwork for a larger promotional mission scheduled for May, which will involve 15 Egyptian companies.
Ambassador Sharif said that promoting trade between Egypt and South Africa is a priority for the embassy, with particular attention given to expanding markets for Egyptian exports. Initial studies have indicated positive prospects for Egyptian food industries in South Africa.
The delegation’s activities include studying South African food consumption trends, visiting major retail chains, and meeting with importers and officials responsible for halal certification. This mission represents a significant step toward enhancing Egyptian food exports in the region.
