Traveler and cargo operations at the Oshoek Port of Entry, the primary border between South Africa and Eswatini, are back in full swing following a brief disruption. The resumption was confirmed by Dr. Michael Masiapato, Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) on Tuesday.
This follows a successful safety assessment and clearance of the port after a serious truck accident on Sunday. A 32-ton coal truck, reportedly suffering brake failure, collided with several vehicles and caused considerable damage to the border infrastructure.
The incident led to injuries for three individuals: a SARS official, a tourism monitor, and the truck driver. Fortunately, all have received prompt medical attention and are on the road to recovery.

With the site cleared, all operations at the port have resumed, ensuring the continued flow of travelers and goods between the two nations.
Masiapato expressed gratitude to all involved in the quick response, including the South African Police Service, the South African National Defence Force, Eswatini’s Emergency Medical Services, and Disaster Management authorities. He also thanked the public and business community for their patience during the brief interruption.
