Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania – President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi has joined 12 other African Heads of State at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre for the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit. The summit focuses on advancing energy access and accelerating Africa’s transition to clean energy.
The Mission 300 initiative aims to connect 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030. The summit agenda includes discussions on addressing energy deficits in underserved areas, improving efficiency, and mobilizing private sector investment.
The meeting will conclude with the adoption of the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which outlines actionable commitments by African governments to reform energy policies. Additionally, participating nations will unveil National Energy Compacts detailing country-specific targets and strategies for implementing reforms.
Other prominent attendees include Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Kenyan President William Ruto, among several African leaders and global partners.
