Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gedion Timothewos, visited the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) headquarters in Addis Ababa. He was joined by the Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, for discussions with Africa CDC Director, Dr. Jean Kaseya.
Dr. Gedion reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to the African Union’s Agenda 2063, emphasizing the country’s role as both a member state and the host nation for African Union institutions. He pledged continued support to Africa CDC by providing necessary infrastructure and resources to enhance the center’s efforts in strengthening the continent’s health systems.
Dr. Kaseya outlined the progress Africa CDC has achieved, including improvements in public health services and the advancement of health research. He called on Ethiopia to maintain its contributions, describing the support as vital to the center’s operations.
