Eldevina Materula officially transferred the tourism portfolio to Basílio Zefanias Muhate, the newly appointed Minister of Economy, during a handover ceremony on Wednesday. The event took place at the offices of the former Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The restructuring, initiated by the government, integrates tourism into the newly established Ministry of Economy, while the culture portfolio will transition to the yet-to-be-formed Ministry of Education and Culture. A minister for the new department has not been announced.
During her remarks, Materula thanked colleagues for their support during her time in office and wished Muhate success in his new role. Muhate pledged to continue the tourism sector’s projects and called for collective efforts to drive the country’s economic growth.
The ceremony was attended by the former Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism and members of the Advisory Board, who witnessed the leadership transition.
