Cape Town has been named the world’s best city for 2025 by Time Out, surpassing global hubs like Bangkok, New York, and Melbourne. The recognition celebrates the city’s happiness levels, world-class dining, and breathtaking natural scenery.
Time Out, a prominent global publication, praised Cape Town for its beauty, thriving food culture, and overall appeal, citing it as a must-visit destination. The accolade marks a rise from last year when the Mother City ranked second.
The survey, involving feedback from over 18,500 participants and insights from a panel of 100 global experts, assessed cities on various criteria, including nightlife, affordability, culture, and liveability.
Cape Town’s mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, welcomed the recognition, attributing it to the city’s vibrant cultural diversity and the happiness of its residents. “This honor reflects the pride Capetonians have in their city and reinforces our commitment to making Cape Town an exceptional place to live and visit,” he said.
