LUSAKA – Emelia Kabungo Nsanta, a Grade 11 student from Zambia, has won second place in the 2024 Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secondary School Essay Competition.
The Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, awarded Emelia a certificate of recognition at Charter House in Lusaka on January 7, 2025.
Gundersen commended Emelia for her achievement, describing it as a moment of pride for Zambia. She urged the student to remain focused on her education and continue engaging with opportunities provided through regional initiatives like the SADC Essay Competition.
Emelia’s essay, based on the theme “Human and Financial Capital: The Key Drivers for Sustainable Industrialization in the SADC Region,” was recognized as one of the top entries during the 44th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in Zimbabwe on August 17, 2024.
The theme was inspired by discussions from the 43rd Ordinary SADC Summit held in Luanda, Angola, in 2023.
