Botswana’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Gilbert Shimane Mangole, paid a courtesy visit to Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin, on December 17, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, praising the role of the younger generation in driving positive political changes in their countries. Ambassador Mangole invited Bangladeshi investment in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing, including ready-made garments.

Foreign Secretary Uddin proposed signing MoUs on contract farming and facilitating cooperation between the two nations’ chambers of commerce. He also suggested expanding educational and research collaborations, especially in agriculture.

Uddin also sought Botswana’s support for the repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar and shared plans for a high-level conference on the issue next year.
