Abuja, Nigeria – The Spanish Embassy in Abuja hosted a captivating end-of-year concert, Vis a Vis – El Retorno, at the National University Commission (NUC) conference hall on December 6, 2024. The event showcased an exciting fusion of music, dance, and cultural exchange, with performances by Ara, the Queen of Drums, La Chocolata, Ruth Mahogany, and the ARB Music Band.

Ara, a trailblazing female talking drummer, opened the evening with a dynamic performance that seamlessly blended traditional Yoruba rhythms with modern beats. Known for redefining the music world with her unique sound, Ara’s mastery of the talking drum captivated the audience and brought a touch of cultural heritage to the global stage.

Ruth Mahogany, a poet, musician, and creative director, followed with a powerful performance that resonated deeply with the crowd. Her performance was a testament to her versatility as a music producer and composer, and her passion for blending diverse genres and societal topics into her art.

The ARB Music Band, a 21st-century urban African band, brought energy and elegance to the stage, delighting the audience with their innovative sound and infectious rhythms. Their performance further amplified the event’s celebration of modern African music.
