President Bola Tinubu will leave France on Monday for Cape Town, South Africa, where he is set to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The high-level meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, will follow a ministerial session on December 2 at South Africa’s Parliament Building. A statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, outlined the agenda, which includes discussions on bilateral, regional, and international issues.
The talks will focus on eight key sectors, including political consultations, migration, banking, defense and security, trade and investments, social development, mining, and manufacturing. Officials from both nations are expected to sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements during the event.
The Commission, established in 1999 to enhance cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa, marks its 25th anniversary this year. Its role in fostering high-level dialogue and promoting collaboration in diplomacy, trade, and security remains significant.
President Tinubu will be accompanied by a delegation comprising state governors, ministers, and senior government officials. The trip follows his official visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
