Professor Benedict Oramah, President and Chairman of Afreximbank, delivered a compelling lecture on November 21, 2024, at the Royal African Society’s (RAS) Annual Lecture at the Sammy Ofer Centre, London Business School. The lecture explored Africa’s trade and economic transformation, focusing on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) as a key driver of regional integration and global trade competitiveness.

Oramah discussed Afreximbank’s strategic role in advancing Africa’s industrialization, bridging trade finance gaps, and empowering African entrepreneurs. He emphasized the need for innovative financing solutions, the expansion of intra-African trade, and the effective utilization of Africa’s human and natural resources to achieve sustainable growth.

Drawing on his extensive experience, Oramah also discussed the shared vision between Afreximbank and the Royal African Society in shaping Africa’s global presence and fostering economic self-reliance. The event attracted business leaders, diplomats, academics, and African diaspora representatives, all eager to engage in discussions on Africa’s future in global trade.

The lecture was hosted by Arunma Oteh, Chairperson of RAS, and moderated by Omar Ben Yedder, Group Publisher of IC Publications. It was part of RAS’s end-of-year programme, culminating in the Benefit Gala on November 22, 2024, which celebrated Africa’s achievements and potential.
