Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, conducted an official visit to Türkiye from November 18 to 20, 2024, at the invitation of Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz. The trip aimed to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

Accompanying the Prime Minister were Foreign Affairs and International Relations Minister Lejone Mpotjoana, Trade and Industry Minister Mokhethi Shelile, Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition Minister Thabo Mofosi, senior government officials, representatives from the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), and members of Lesotho’s business sector.

The delegation visited key sites, including the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Civilization Museum, Ostim Technopark, Ostim Technical University, and the Africa Culture House. These engagements were designed to explore areas of collaboration and highlight Türkiye’s growing partnerships with African countries.

Diplomatic relations between Lesotho and Türkiye were established in 1980, and both countries have since worked to deepen cooperation through various exchanges.
