Maseru, Lesotho — The Acting Head of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Ms. Masoai Dennis, met with Hon. Lejone Mpotjoana, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, on Thursday to discuss strengthening ties on migration initiatives.
The discussions included Lesotho’s new role as champion of the Global Compact for Migration, where the country will work with IOM to address migration challenges and promote effective solutions.
They also focused on engaging the Basotho diaspora, particularly strategies to transfer specialized skills from health professionals abroad and encourage diaspora investment to boost national development.
Plans for Lesotho to play a significant role in the African Union’s Diaspora Cooperation program were also discussed, including the possibility of hosting this initiative.
