Ahead of the United Nations’ Summit of the Future, scheduled for September 22-23, 2024, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) held a two-day Pre-Summit Conference on September 20-21. The event, part of the International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD), aimed to shape key discussions for the upcoming summit.

His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho delivered a keynote address on September 21, during a session titled “The Future of Energy.” The session, co-sponsored by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), focused on global efforts to meet power demands through clean and green energy solutions.

GEIDCO, a Beijing-based international organization founded in 2016, promotes the development of renewable energy and global energy interconnections. It aims to foster international cooperation on sustainable energy systems and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.

The Pre-Summit covered five main topics, including sustainable development, SDG financing, peace and security, and the future of global governance.
