Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Kenya’s newly appointed Consul-General to Jeddah, Ambassador Aden Mohamud Mohamed, formally presented his Letter of Commission to H.E. Mazen bin Hamad Al-Hamli, Director-General of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Makkah Region branch) on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

The presentation ceremony marked the official commencement of Ambassador Mohamed’s duties as the first Kenyan Consul-General in Saudi Arabia.

In subsequent discussions, the Director-General lauded Kenya’s decision to establish a Consulate in Jeddah, emphasizing its long-overdue recognition of the strong political, diplomatic, commercial, and cultural ties between the two nations. He also extended his congratulations to Ambassador Mohamed on his appointment.

Ambassador Mohamed expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Government for their swift facilitation of the Consulate’s establishment. Recognizing Jeddah’s significance as a commercial hub, major seaport, home to Saudi Airlines, and a center of cultural and religious importance, he pledged to actively contribute to the growth of Kenya-Saudi relations through strategic initiatives from the Consulate.
