King Mswati III has called on African nations to unite for economic progress, drawing parallels to the solidarity that led to political independence across the continent. The King made these remarks during his three-day state visit to Uganda, where he responded to comments made by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at Etete State House.
Reflecting on the achievements of political freedom through collective efforts, King Mswati III stressed the importance of collaboration among African countries to harness the continent’s rich mineral resources. He highlighted the potential for these resources to transform Africa’s economic landscape, urging countries to share expertise and leverage their assets to gain a stronger foothold in the global economy.
The King also pointed to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) as a vital tool for economic cooperation and urged African nations to seize the opportunities it presents.
President Museveni, in his remarks, welcomed the idea of continental collaboration and invited African countries to partner with Uganda in the development of its newly discovered petroleum gas resources. Museveni suggested that while Uganda focuses on crude oil production, other African nations could invest in the pipeline and refinery infrastructure.
