Pretoria – The Department of Home Affairs has welcomed a court order authorizing the deportation of 95 Libyan nationals arrested in White River, Mpumalanga, last month.
Home Affairs Minister Dr Leon Schreiber has directed his department to expedite the deportation process while adhering to all legal requirements. Department officials are currently in court to finalize deportation confirmations from the magistrate and are also making logistical arrangements for the repatriation.
“We will not tolerate breaches of our immigration laws,” Minister Schreiber said. “Those who violate these laws will face the full consequences under the law.”
The minister emphasized the department’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that immigration regulations are enforced.
The group was apprehended in July and has been in custody since then. Their deportation has been a subject of public interest and debate.
