Maputo, Mozambique – Mozambique and Malawi have solidified their bilateral relations with the signing of key agreements in the energy and petroleum sectors. During a working visit to Mozambique, Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera and Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi engaged in a series of discussions, resulting in the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at fostering cooperation in these critical areas.
The talks, which included both a private meeting and official discussions, prioritized urgent matters that both leaders agreed could not wait. President Nyusi emphasized the importance of the agreements, highlighting their potential to spur development and progress for both nations.
This visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening the historical ties of brotherhood, friendship, and solidarity between the two countries. Beyond the economic benefits, it also symbolizes the commitment of Mozambique and Malawi to work together towards mutual prosperity.
In addition to the strategic talks and agreements, President Chakwera is set to receive an honorary Doctorate from Joaquim Chissano University.
