Juba, South Sudan – South Sudan and Pakistan have expressed a mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral relations, with a focus on capacity building in key sectors.
Foreign Minister Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc met with Pakistan’s Ambassador Atif Sharif Mian in Juba on Monday to discuss a range of issues.
Goc welcomed Pakistan’s willingness to support South Sudan’s national interests, particularly through scholarship opportunities for South Sudanese students. He outlined South Sudan’s foreign policy, emphasizing the country’s desire for peace and partnerships with like-minded nations.
The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and highlighted the importance of building diplomatic ties between the two countries.
In response, Ambassador Mian congratulated Goc on his appointment and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, education, and defense. He also called on the international community to lift the arms embargo on South Sudan to facilitate peace and development.
Pakistan pledged to support the capacity building of South Sudanese diplomats, emphasizing its belief in the South Sudanese people’s aspirations for peace and prosperity.
The two countries agreed to explore opportunities for further collaboration to benefit their respective populations.
