Lusaka, Zambia – China’s new ambassador to Zambia, Han Jing, touched down in Lusaka on Tuesday, signaling a fresh chapter in the two countries’ longstanding relationship. The envoy was welcomed at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by senior Zambian government officials.
Ambassador Han, the 17th Chinese envoy to Zambia, expressed enthusiasm about his new role, particularly given the momentous year for bilateral ties. With both nations commemorating six decades of diplomatic relations and gearing up for the next Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit, Han pledged to deepen collaboration and build on the existing “all-weather friendship.”
“I am honored to be appointed at this crucial juncture,” Han stated, adding that he would work closely with Zambian counterparts to advance the shared vision outlined by the two heads of state.
Permanent Secretary for International Cooperation and Relations, Etambuyu Gundersen, extended warm greetings from President Hakainde Hichilema and reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to the strong partnership with China. She assured Ambassador Han of the ministry’s full support and expressed anticipation for the upcoming FOCAC summit.
