Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia is set to become the epicenter of the global Islamic tourism industry with the upcoming Asia Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (AITEX) and the World Islamic Tourism Awards 2024. Scheduled for August 23-26 at the Sunway Resort Hotel in Selangor, the event promises to be a landmark gathering for the sector.
The expo will feature a vast exhibition showcasing Islamic tourism, jewelry, and finance products from over 3,000 square meters of space. Attendees can expect to see exhibitors from a wide range of countries, including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia.
A highlight of the event will be the Islamic Tourism Conference, featuring 15 renowned speakers who will delve into the industry’s trends and opportunities. Additionally, a Ministers and CEOs Summit will focus on investment prospects in Asia’s tourism sector.
The World Islamic Tourism Awards, to be held on August 26, will recognize excellence in various aspects of Islamic tourism, from best destinations and hotels to culinary experiences and industry contributions.
The Malaysia Tourism Agency Association (MATA) is organizing the event, with Batik Air as the partner airline and Sunway Resort Hotel as the partner hotel. The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is also supporting the initiative.
Dato’ Dr. Mohd Khalid Harun, MATA President, expressed enthusiasm about the event, emphasizing its potential to boost collaboration and economic growth within the Islamic tourism sector.
